InstructionCHOOSE YOUR TOPIC The topic for our first Persuasive Research must be a topic that is related to your major. For example, if I am a pre-nursing major, I could choose the topic Narcan and develop an argument in favor of Narcan being an OTC medicine. If I am a Business major, I could choose the topic of business owners obtaining a degree and develop an argument that business owners do not need a college degree to run a successful business. At this point, use a search engine (Yahoo, Google, Bing, etc.) to conduct some research on the Internet about a possible topic you could develop your Persuasive Research essay around. Take a look at this link to review the top 12 search engines. The topic must be arguable and researchable. Arguable means that there is more than one stance on the topic. Researchable means that the topic more than likely is highly debated. ***REMEMBER: Using search engines are good to use to get a sense of a topic. DO NOT Use Wikipedia. *** Our Persuasive Research Essay #1 is required to have at least four (4) sources/research from Galileo that supports our argument. You may obtain two from a search engine, but you MUST use the CRAAP METHOD. The topic I choose is College degree vs. not having a college degree to run a successful business After you have conducted an Internet search for general information on your topic, construct the main argument to start the development of your required three-point thesis statement, which will be due in the next couple of weeks. For example, if I want to develop an argument on the topic of cannabis, my stance/argument could be that cannabis should be federally legal in the United States. WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Go to Galileo and obtain one (1) source that supports your main argument on the topic you chose.
