This paper should be concise, organized, and presented in APA 7TH edition writing style. You must use information we have covered in class and at least three peer-reviewed academic sources to support your ideas. Quality papers will be organized with level headings that address the following prompts: a. Introduction that briefly describe the character, the theory you chose, and what major themes the reader should expect from the rest of the paper. I chose CHRISTINA YANG from Grey's Anatomy. The theory I chose is PSYCHODYNAMIC THEORY. b. A section in which you describe the details of the case study, address relevant areas of the client’s bio-psycho-social experience (work, family, health, mental health, cultural identities, etc.),and describe the problems they face. You may choose to elaborate on the character’s personal information that you don’t know in order to best make your argument for use of the theory. c. A section in which you briefly describe the counseling theory you have chose and why you chose it for this particular client. At minimum this section must include: i.the theory’s view on the nature of people ii.the theory’s view on what creates distress iii.the theory’s view of what creates change iv.the role of the counselor v.how/ifthe theory addresses diverse clients and cross-cultural counseling relationships This should not be an extended discussion; just remind your reader of the major concepts, including any that you find particularly salient to the case at hand,and any relevant research that may come into play when you write the next part. d.A section in which you apply the theory to the case. You should describe at least one short term and one long term goal and how you would use the theory to help your client accomplish them. It is important that you use this section to connect client characteristics to concepts from the theory.(Hint: use the vocabulary of the theory).This section represents the main objective of the assignmentand is the place where you get to assert your own voice. e.A conclusion that summarizes your main points. f.An APA reference page. A note on your choice of character: Keep it simple. The point of this paper is for you to demonstrate that you understand theories well enough to apply them to a human situation. That said, please choose a character who has human qualities and faces a situation in which they face real human challenges. So, while Luke Sky walker from Star Wars is technically an “alien”, he would be a safe choice, because he struggles with love, courage, coming of age, facing his fears, determining if his values line up with his family’s etc. But Animal from the Muppets is probably not a good choice for this paper; he clearly has emotions and motivations, but they are harder to clearly identify and may confuse the point of the assignment (see above). Additionally, your character does NOT have to have a diagnosable mental illness; in fact,better papers are written when complex symptomology does not complicate the case.
