InstructionThe end of the war in Afghanistan has certainly captured the attention of the world. In this virtual, trip we will travel to Central Asia to discover the roots of the current situation and analyze the potential for that country's transformation into a stable and democratic society. There are four essential conditions that are conducive to achieving a stable democracy (educational, economic, social, and ideological). A high level of access and achievement to schools and training, (educational), economic health and growth (economic), social equality and lack of conflict between groups (social), and a common belief in government's purpose and justice (ideological) for all segments of the citizenry is necessary for a stable democracy. So after 20 years of U.S. intervention (the longest military action in American History), why did Afghanistan collapse once again into a failed state? Choose one of the four conditions (educational, economic, social, and ideological) and conduct internet research on the situation in Afghanistan today including the historic contributors. Provide detailed facts about your chosen focus on one of the four conditions. Look for quality sources, (no encyclopedias, crowd-sourced websites, social media, atlases, or other nonacademic sources). Was the war in Afghanistan always a lost cause? Why or why not? Do you believe it was time to leave Afghanistan? Should the U.S. have left sooner? Should it stay longer? Support your position with facts. Provide a minimum of two different quality sources for your posts including a complete URL address. (not just cnn.com).
