If you are an online student, you will use Zoom to record your speech. You may wish to review the Directions to Record an Assignment Using Zoom. Make sure your speech meets the following requirements: • Introduction includes an attention getter and thesis statement that aligns with one of the three options given for the Informative Speech. • Speech uses clear transitions between introduction and the body, the main points within the body, and the body and conclusion. • Speech is non biased. • Speech uses one or two visual aids. • Speech refers to at least one credible source and provides APA citation. • Speech shows consideration and accommodation of the audience (e.g., provides background knowledge if topic is specialized). • Conclusion contains one or two of the following: summary of key ideas, quotation (emotional or factual), rhetorical question, challenge to the audience, or call to action. • Presentation demonstrates consistent eye contact and is clear/audible. • Presentation demonstrates non-distracting behavior, occasional use of hand motions, and varying vocal pitch and speaking rate (not monotonous). • Speech is 4-6 minutes long (30 second grace period either way).
