Instructionxercise 1: As you are aware, election season is upon us and serious discussion concerning social policies are needed to inform citizens of political position and policy intent. For this discussion students must select two (2) areas in each Domain area to advocate for on behalf of an oppressed/marginalized/ underserved/minority population to be debated (presented): Domain 1 Domestic Issues: Unemployment, Poverty, Healthcare, Immigration, Racial Injustice, Policing, Gun Violence; equal rights Domain 2 Foreign Issues: Global Warming, Sex Trafficking, Trade, Internet/Wi-Fi Access, (Child) poverty, women’s Right/equal rights Students are to identify and express their (ideological) position on the issue, identify and discuss the problem concern and policy fix or community engagement needed to address the concern. Use factual statistical data and, at least, 2 support references per issue presented. Indicate who should be involved in change, how soon change should come and the role you as the SW practitioner will have in the process. Use Policy course terminology and or refer to information from the modules to assist with the presentations. Approximately, ½ - 1 page per issue (do not exceed the limit per issue and the 4 page maximum limit for the exercise). This requires students to be direct and to the point reducing wordiness in the presentation.
