InstructionPolicy Brief (Module III) – Develop a policy brief on a policy for submission at the local, state, or federal level. This document must address a real and current issue. The brief must be prepared for submission to a potential sponsoring legislator, to whom you will actually submit the brief. Chose a policy within your area of concentration (H/MH or CYF) or of particular interest. Use the information from mod 2 and 3 to help develop the brief. It would be a good idea to review some current policy briefs by searching for policy brief examples or search for briefs on your particular interest. The brief should be 3 - 4 pages (be direct, specific, and remember strengths/weaknesses or cost-benefits, or pros and cons); must provide original (your idea not taken from anyone else) policy fixes for the issues addressed. Note for the Brief components: Students must select a major US policy (Housing, Healthcare, Employment, Medicaid, Incarceration, Education, Voting Rights, immigration, and child welfare); research the history of the policy and any amendments /reauthorizations: identify the problem being addressed, discuss the target population state the need, identify the intent of the policy, discuss ideology of the policy (originally and currently), who supports and who opposes; and economically is the program feasible
