First, after reading and reflecting upon the article, "The Challenge in Conducting Qualitative Research With Convicted Sex Offenders," discuss in detail how a researcher could inadvertently undermine the treatment efforts of a research subject who is a sex offender. It must be apparent that you have carefully read the article. Next, in your opinion, to what extent (if any) should researchers be concerned with unwittingly undermining the successful treatment of sex offenders? Should a researcher's main priority be to get the data? Is it unfair, or even unwarranted, to expect researchers to overly concern themselves with treatment issues, especially if they do not have training in this area? Provide a significant discussion, and point to all three articles to bolster your argument. Next, in your opinion, is the sex offender too stigmatizing? Is there a way the negative effects of the registry can be mitigated; and if so, would this be beneficial for the offender's road to recovery? Why or why not? And, please point to one aspect of the article by Vandiver et al. (2008) that you found to be interesting. Please explain what the article adds to our knowledge of female sex offenders, a population of which very little information is known. Do you believe it is ever appropriate for male sex offenders and female sex offenders to receive treatment together? Why or why not? Elaborate. Next, please reflect upon the Sex Offender Accountability and Rehabilitation (SOAR) program discussed in Grady and Brodersen's (2008) article. In your opinion, what aspect of this program do you think is particularly effective and why? It may be creative yet also realistic. Finally, if a researcher wanted to replicate Grady and Brodersen's study in another state, what advice or suggestion would you give.
