  • Most of the work isn't quite right. I would highly recommend using excel for this project. The project can be submitted in excel. Also re-watch the two videos on blackboard associated with the assignment. Set up the first couple questions in excel and then send it back to me. If it takes a bit past Sunday to get it how you like it that is fine. Q1 is incorrect (both parts) Q2 incorrect. We need to calculate the FV for all 4 years or tuition, for each child. Q3 and Q4 are correct. Well done. Q5 is incorrect. The rate/period is not times 365, it is divided by 365. Q6 is incorrect. The PV is not $5000. That is the payment (i.e. the PMT variable in excel). For Q7 watch the Q7 how to video posted next to the assignment. For Q8, inflation acts as a negative interest rate, and we are looking for a PV. Q9, definitely use excel for this one. Makes it much simpler. Hope this helps.

  • Overall, if using excel get in the practice of putting the formulas in the cells, rather than just typing prose as you would in word. Or better yet, use the finance functions following the example I give in the how to videos. It is much easier, flexible for changes, and more powerful to solve problems that way. On #1, the current home is incorrect. Vacation home is correct. #2, 3, 4 and 5 looks good. #6 is incorrect. Use the excel function. The formula is not correctly accounting for periodic payments. #7 is incorrect. Watch the how to video posted for more on #7. #8 and #9 are incorrect. Check the how to videos and use the excel functions.

That is, don't keep line 4 fixed as the beginning of the holding period for all years. I would recommend using the excel file I posted for minor project 2 as the template for calculations.
