According to Deep vein thrombosis: pathogenesis, diagnosis, and medical management, Stone et al. stated, The pathogenesis of DVT "Virchow’s Triad, first described in 1856, implicates three contributing factors in the formation of thrombosis: venous stasis, vascular injury, and hypercoagulability. Venous stasis is the most consequential of the three factors, but stasis alone appears to be insufficient to cause thrombus formation.

This went into effect and her swelling went back down and her blood pressure returned to normal. "If an immediate anticoagulant effect is required, the initial dose should be accompanied by an IV bolus injection" (Hirsh et al., 2001 ).
