In these readings you will have a clear sense of how social workers apply a spiritual perspective, the efficacy of the exploration of religious and spiritual values with clients, the complexity of human nature and how individuals survive and/or find solace through their religious and spiritual beliefs. Instructions Choose two readings and answer the questions, use supportive evidence from the readings you choose 1.Compare or contrast these readings to each other. 2.Why did you relate to them? If they differed in their presentation and/or perspective, with which aspects did you either agree or disagree? 3.If you have had experiences addressing religious or spiritual beliefs with your clients, please identify a situation and how you approached it? If not, how do you imagine approaching issues of and/or religion with your clients? 4.Discuss the efficacy of exploring religion and spirituality with your clients We will look at religious text through the work of Rabbi Joseph B. Soleveitchik and apply his typology of Adam I and Adam II to human nature. In the readings by Canda, Cascio, and these readers further define the essence of spiritual work with our clients, and determine the meaning such exploration has in social work practice.
