InstructionMUST KNOW HOW TO USE EXCEL In this case study, you need to answer specific questions to obtain demographic and consumer-related statistics. You can obtain frequencies for categorical(nominal) variables by using the frequency option. This is a very helpful assignment especially when you have to work with variables such as gender, zip code, income groups, education levels, or any other categorical variables in marketing research. Case Questions: Determine member demographics(e.g, education, gender, income, education) and usage patterns( What activities refer to question 1 on the survey(e.g., pool, classes, circuit, weight, station) gym members do? See the survey questions to identify them. Report mode for variables with a nominal scale Step 1: Download the Following Files; DATA (excel attached) & SURVEY QUESTIONS (powerpoint attached) Step 2: Step 2: Follow This Step by Step Guide 1. Open the data file-Excel add-in doesn't work on the online version, you must install Excel on a computer. 2. Open the survey questions file to see the questions and labels. 3. Download the data analysis toolpak(File>options>add-ins> Analysis Toolpak). See how here for both Mac and Windows. (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/load-the-analysis-toolpak-in-excel-6a63e598-cd6d-42e3-9317-6b40ba1a66b4?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us) 4. On the Excel, document make sure you are on the AFC DATA_1 sheet. 5. Click on the Data>Data Analysis Tab>Descriptive statistics. 6. We need to answer the descriptive statistics(mode for nominal scales & everything for ratio/interval scales) regarding demographics (e.g., age, gender, income, education, etc.) and usage patterns(Question 1 on the survey). 7. For the Input Range enter or select variables by columns, for instance, for Weight, you'll see $B$1:$B$232, in which B refers to the column that variable is located and 1 and 232 tell Excel in which rows. Remember to click on the labels option to tell Excel that the first row is the name of the variable. 8. For the Output options, it will open a new sheet by default and you need to copy/paste the tables into a word document. 9. Select Summary statistics and then click OK. Now you can see all of the descriptive statistics and you can label this “Weight” 10. You need to copy and paste the answers into a Word document and describe your answer in one sentence. For instance, the most popular class based on the results was Weight or whatever you find. 11. For nominal scales, you only need to bold or highlight or underline mode, but for ratio/interval the whole table includes the right statistics.
