First, after reading and reflecting upon the article, "Texas Latino Prison Gangs," what aspect of this study do you think would be the most helpful for prison and jail administrators? What is it, in particular, about this aspect of the study that you believe administrators could use in order to effectively manage their facilities? Next, in the study, "Rape Lore in Correctional Settings," Worley et al. focused on inmates' awareness of prison rape. Based upon all three of the articles you read this week, in your opinion, is prison rape a rare occurrence, or does it happen frequently? Please point to various aspects of the articles to bolster your argument. And, as you know from reading the article, "Adapting to Prison Life," male inmates were asked to answer questions about how they coped with the pressures of incarceration. If female inmates were asked the same set of questions, do you feel the responses would be similar or different? Fully elaborate and explain your reasoning. Also, provide another possible way (not identified in the paper) of how inmates might cope with stressful prison environments. Finally, in your opinion, twenty years from now, will prison gangs operate at more, less, or about the same frequency, as they do today? Explain your reasoning.
