Discussion question: How do the physical and societal effects of aging impact retirement decisions for older adults? Classmate response: Hello class, There comes a point in an individual’s life that they must make a challenging decision in terms of retirement, but along with making those decisions there is physical and societal effects influences the decisions. Some of those physical effects could be from having poor health and or poor work ability (Laaksonen, 2021). This could lead to an earlier retirement choice if not anticipated. However, there are also some societal effects that influences. A way that this is done, is by new laws changing retirement age, making it so a larger older adult population in the work force (Laaksonen, 2021). Which this could make it harder to retire and older when retired, nit being able to enjoy retirement at a younger age. Those that wanted a shorter route to retirement might just have to work for a few more year before they can benefit from their retirement earnings. Both physical and societal effect examples that were discussed about leave barriers to individuals that are seeking retirement allowances, making it almost impossible to enjoy retirement without having to worry.
