One main factor includes how the adolescence’s family responds to experiences and how they view challenges. In a study developed by Manyema and Richter (2019), they acknowledged that both household and community socio-economic status in childhood was associated with the experiences of adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and the likelihood of experiencing multiple ACEs. Spiritual beliefs have also been found to be a protective factor in times of struggle and trails in people’s lives (Francis & Bance, 2016). Spirituality can contribute to a more positive adaptation when experiencing adversity and more research on this connection should be considered (2016).
