Go to google maps and choose a city. Zoom out until you can see the bulk of the city and then take a screencapture picture. Leave the map open because you may want to have more pictures of specific areas. Create a powerpoint presentation and submit online for a grade. Powerpoint presentation: Title slide Slide 2: Intro to the city – why is the city there and what does it do Slide 3: Zoomed out picture of the map – just copy and paste the map to the slide Slide 4: Shape of the city – gridiron, radiocentric, concentric zones, nuclei, etc. (use all the ideas in the chapters about shapes and how they apply to your city Slide 5: Ease of navigation – see this website for more information (https://bigthink.com/strange-maps/charlotte-nc-has-americas-messiest-street-grid) If your city is listed, use this information, if not, use this information as a guide and make a good guess Slide 6: Specific historical events that shaped the city – any big events? Wars, new industries, immigration, etc. Slide 7: Where is it now? – deindustrialization, economic restructuring, world systems analysis, etc. Slide 8: Future trends
