As you read through the articles you will collect the following information. Articles, or references, from at least 3 mainstream INTERNET DAILY NEWS websites (more may be required based on the number of terms found in each). Make certain your terms come from daily news sites. As a reminder, journals, research oriented or health care focused websites such as Science Daily or the New England Journal of Medicine are not mainstream daily news sources. Identify 20 medical terms. Select terms similar to those you have been studying. Avoid complex terms such as those related to chemicals. Also avoid “common” terms such as fever, cough, organ A good example of a medical term is pericardium. Break the terms down into word elements. An example is pericardium which is breaks down into peri cardi um. Categorize the word elements. An example of categorizing the elements is prefix peri, suffix um, word root/combining form cardi which is a word root. Define the word elements. An example of defining word elements is peri means around, um means structure, tissue or thing and cardi means heart. Provide the medical definition of the term. An example is the pericardium is the membranous sac that surrounds and encloses the heart and includes the bases of the great vessels. Your work can be submitted as list or formatted as a table although this is not mandatory. Many find using a table helps organize the material. An example is provided for your review. Submit your assignment, along with a minimum of 3 sources from which you took your terms. Please use a doc or docx format for submission. Do not use EXCEL or PowerPoint. You may list your 3 sources at the bottom of the submission in the form of the website URL for the article used. Post your submission via the link on the next page (posting link found in module). Don’t forget to include your sources (a MINIMUM of 3!) It is strongly suggested that you wait until you learn about word construction and word elements before completing this assignment. I will also be looking for: Proper spelling of terms. Neatness in formatting, listings, etc. Accuracy in regards to the breakdown of the terms. Proper categorizing of components. Correct definitions of word elements and the terms. Inclusion of your 3 (or more) references
