Pick a popular cultural form and discuss briefly how this form is gendered. For example, the majority of young adult dystopian novels have female protagonists who must endure, survive, and fight within their cultural dystopia (The Hunger Games). Why? Most of these young women are also white. They are gendered and privileged. or How is Star Wars gendered? You get the idea, and you can use music, graphic novels, contemporary art like murals, television shows, films, YouTubers, etc. Any form of popular culture will work. Pokémon! Ash is the main protagonist with Pikachu - the traditional trope of the young boy searching for himself as he matures through experience. Yet, there are more and more female gym leaders.
