I rewatched the video a few times, and Dr. Chew never mentioned a stategy that could be used instead of taking notes. Answers A, B, and C, were all mentioned and covered in detail as strategic ways to study on a deeper processing level. These answers also supported the concept of notetaking because they were strategies to help understand and process the notes on a deeper level. Then answer D, "None of these methods are as good as creating and memorizing note cards" is not the right answer because we have talked about poor metacognition and memorizing facts is an example of that. While A, "Concept Mapping", B, "Self-testing" and C, "Question Generation" are all strategic ways to promote deeper learning, I would personally chose answer B, "self testing" as the correct answer.

After reading the possible answer choices, answer C, "Everyone one in the groups should have similar learning styles" is not a rule for effective learning. There are five effective rules for group studying accoring to Dr. Chew, "set a goal and agenda, set criteria for participation, keep ultimate goal of learning in mind, everyone can ask/answer questions, and anyone can express group understanding" (Dr.Chew, 8:41). I know that option D is not the correct answer right off the bat since Dr. Chew never stated that creating and memorizing note cards was the number one method of them all to promote deep learning. I can also mark out C as not the correct answer. Although asking questions is important and an effective strategy that Dr. Chew suggested, I don't believe that its the correct deep learning method when it comes to memorization. That leaves me with option A (concept mapping) and option B (self-testing). Not cards are meant to help with memorization, therefore we are needing an effective deep processing method that specifically can help with that. That being said, I think the answer to this question is B (self-testing) since it requires you to practice recalling information without the help of your notes.

In a previous video, Dr. Chew mentioned that learning styles have very little to do with deep learning and processing, therefore, it is also not a necessity when it comes to group study.
