Use headings to clearly identify which prompt you are addressing. In addition, be sure to use proper grammar and spelling. In a few sentences summarize the speech you selected to analyze. Write at least ½ page to 1 page about the context (e.g., when, where, and why did the speech occur), the audience (e.g., demographics, characteristics, the frame of reference, etc.), and events (e.g., elections, natural disasters, current events, etc.) surrounding this presentation. You may need to make some inferences or assumptions, if you are, simply indicate that you are making an inference or assumption. Write at least 1/2 - 1 page addressing the five canons of rhetoric (Invention, Arrangement, Style, Memory, Delivery – covered in chapter 1). Give examples to support your points. Write approximately ½ page addressing one or two ways in which language is used in this presentation. Provide examples to support your points. Write approximately ½ page addressing how you can use this presentation to enhance your public speaking and communication skills. Keep in mind that presentations can serve as examples for both what you want to do and what you don’t want to do.
