InstructionStudent 1) casey Hosting a cultural festival to promote the different cultures in the community. Each culture can come and showcase their culture by serving it’s famous dish and members of the community can go around and try the different dishes from the different cultures. My church has done this before and it was such a great experience because I got to try different foods from different cultures. I think the police force has an impact on hate-crimes because we look at them to keep us safe and reprimand those who cause harm and if someone is being prosecuted or treated differently by the color of their skin it causes separation because of the different ethnicities and cultures. Respect is a big factor in citizens of the community reducing hate crimes because it is just a matter of respecting each other's differences and not trying to be superior than the other. Regardless of the color of their skin, treatment should be the same because we may look different on the outside but we are all the same on the inside. Studies have shown that children are taught racism rather than being born with it. The study did not specify exactly when or how parents should address the topic about race to their children at a young age rather than when they get older because once they enter school they are faced with different races and ethnicities. It is a difficult topic for some parents especially, white parents but it's important to make the child aware at a young age to avoid racial bias before it takes root. Children notice race several years Before adults want to talk about it. (n.d.). Student 2) brin Throughout different neighborhoods and communities there are multiple groups of different people who all hold contrasting beliefs, views, and cultures. It is highly important for law enforcement officers along with private citizens of these communities to be understanding of the diverse backgrounds each individual holds. If race, ethnics, academic, socioeconomic or geographic backgrounds are not taken into consideration and respected, hate- motivated behavior is at a higher risk of being spread throughout the communities. If I were a law enforcement officer in a neighborhood full of diversity, I would be sure to not discriminate against any certain group of individuals when enforcing law. I also would help the communities plan events for all members of the community to attend and participate in, that way people are meeting other people who live around them, and becoming comfortable and informed on the many different cultures, races, or beliefs that may be present right where they live. Also as an private citizen of a community, I would introduce myself to neighbors or others that I meet out in the community, and ask about their background in an appropriate way, so then I may be able to educate myself further and allow for inclusivity in the community.
