Streptomycin is an antibiotic, a drug taken to slow the growth of invading bacteria, which allows our body's defense mechanisms (immune system) more time to destroy them. Streptomycin works by binding to the bacterial ribosomes and preventing an accurate reading of mRNA. Why would this process slow bacterial growth? For your discussion post, please do some research on Streptomycin and provide the following: 1) information on its discovery; 2) mode or mechanism of action and 3) what diseases are typically treated with this antibiotic. In addition, using your understanding of the lecture material and textbook information, answer the question highlighted in the previous paragraph. Please use google scholar to find reliable resources for your research and cite at least 1 source in your post. Your discussion post should be a minimum of 300 words in length.
