InstructionYou have been assigned the task of developing a worksite safety and injury prevention program for an industrial worksite. Within the worksite, some of the job descriptions include: • Operation of forklifts and other heavy machinery, • Working around potentially hazardous substances, • Exposure to high-decibel noise levels, • Driving company vehicles to and from remote job sites, • Packing, lifting, and loading heavy materials, • Outdoors work that exposes workers to heat, cold, and the elements of bad weather. Your first task is to determine what intervention programs or policies are needed to reduce accidents, injuries, and worker compensation claims. a. Determine three methods of collecting primary data that you think might be useful in this particular setting. List the methods and include 1-2 sentences describing how you would proceed in gathering this data. For each, give one example (likely hypothetical) of what you might expect to find as a result of your data collection. b. Identify two sources of secondary data that you think might be useful in this task. For each source, report an actual piece of data and cite the source for that finding. c. Develop a one-page written questionnaire that you could use to gather data for this workplace setting. (I have posted a link to some tools offered by WELCOA just to get you started with this task, but an Internet search will provide dozens of examples.) For your questionnaire items, include at least one of each of the following response options: nominal, ratio, and ordinal (using a Likert scale). Once the needs assessment data has been collected, it becomes critically important to analyze/ prioritize/ validate the results to focus the program on the most “important” real needs. Provide and explanation for how you will: d. Prioritize the needs of the intervention. Give a specific example. e. Validate the prioritized needs. Give a specific example.
