InstructionThis week we have discussed the importance of writing with a “voice” that conveys our ideas clearly but also emphasizes our professionalism. Please consider things that you value in a written voice from a professional standpoint; that is, what characteristics do you prefer in writing? Do you attempt to integrate these facets into your own writing? Ponder the notion of rhetoric and what you personally and professionally value from a communication standpoint. This assignment will be a mixture of fusing our own business voice with what we perceive to be the needs of our audience. For this assignment, please choose the academic article or the sports blog. You will choose one of these assignments to do a full makeover, which will mean revising the voice, wording, and medium for a new business based audience. Remember that the audience changes the way writing is written. The sports blog and the academic article certainly have audiences where writing that way would be appropriate but not with a business-based audience 1. First try and paraphrase for yourself what the main point is (you will need to know the main idea so you can subsequently revise it). 2. Decide what medium you will use to revise this document; the medium should be business-adjacent (e.g. a memo, formal letter, etc). 3. Keep your audience and intent in mind as you rewrite your document.
