Project Summary: Cause and Effect Paper This essay offers you choices as noted in your text. You can choose one effect with many causes, one cause with many effects or a causal chain. It is up to you. Remember, though, that you want to stay focused clearly on the one thing that you are writing about without any tangents or unnecessary information. Examples of this type of essay are the reasons you chose to come to college or the effects of a college degree, a causal chain about events leading up to a break up or marriage, etc. When you write, remember that the first paragraph introduces the cause and effect essay and the last sentence of that paragraph is the thesisthe main point of the essay. Each body paragraph then talks about one cause/effect with the conclusion bringing the essay to an end. *It is possible to choose a personal event or chain of events for this essay and if you do so, you may write in 1st person. However, if you choose a more formal topic for writing, keep your essay in clear 3rd person. Avoid all 2nd person (using you or your) in all educational and professional writing.
