Project Summary: Before you begin, read the short Godwin essay. That essay is sort of old; it mentions going to the library and carbon copies. Just replace that stuff in your mind with getting on the internet and a new notebook. Also, the author discusses story writing. Don't worry that I'm going to ask you to write fiction: everything she discusses applies exactly to essay writing too. Now that you've read the essay, I want you to think about your own "watcher at the gates." In your journal, describe your watcher. What does it look like, sound like? (Personally, mine looks a lot like a brick wall, but it sounds like the voice of an expert in whatever field I happen to be writing about--or the voices of my older brothers.) What kinds of things does your watcher make you do? How do you react to its voice? Im looking for 250-400 words for this journal. And I look forward to reading about your watchers!
