Project Summary: What does it mean for writers to see themselves as sources? To use personal writing in an academic project? Write an essay in which you use the Introduction and Chapter 1 of The Mind at Work as your primary example of personal writing in an academic project. You can draw on Roses ideas as well as those of Nancy Sommers to define and explore how writers and researchers can see themselves as places where ideas originate (Sommers 425). Choose two or three specific examples from your reading and study them carefully to see how this personal material is used to carry out Roses larger project for the book. You will need to follow both Sommers and Rose in defining key terms (theirs and yours) and in using specific passages from the text to demonstrate your observations and conclusions. Think of this paper as being between four and six pages.
