Project Summary: Rules direct how we participate in politics and the choices we have about our representation. These rules are set by government institutions and set the boundaries of the power government institutions have. Write 4 to 6 double-spaced pages to explain how differently state governments operate across the South and further explain how these rules have consequences for who is represented. Then include a reference list. First, identify a specific institutional process you want to focus on - one that some states have and others do not. Judicial selection, voting laws, and party nomination rules are the most frequent differences, in terms of broad categories. Look there, but pick specific procedures to contrast. Identify which states have them and which states don't. Select processes that still work today. So in a historical example: I would pick Georgia's County Unit System or the White Primary in Texas and Georgia to explain how different processes were used to achieve the same goal.
