Project Summary: For this discussion, we'll talk about the constitutionality of flag burning. Check out Texas v. Johnson and read in your textbook American Government 3E about flag burning. If an action is not harming anyone (not violating their life, liberty, or property), should that action be illegal, such as flag burning? Make an argument based on legalities and civil liberties and not on emotions, although this can be an emotional topic. Keep your posts civil, please, as I know you will. Is freedom of expression and speech important to freedom in general? What should happen if you find someone's expression or speech offensive? The national government has its duties, as we know, but the textbook mentioned that states "engage in administering health, safety, income security, education, and welfare to state residents". In short, states are more involved in our day to day lives.
