Project Summary: Each group will complete an analysis of three to five newspaper articles on an issue relating to women’s history in Ireland. They may compare coverage across two or more newspapers, or just stick with one. All the newspaper articles must be from within a five-year time period and be written between the years 1860 and 2000. Each group must submit: how newspapers reflected/ enhanced/ challenged gendered expectations in Ireland at that time complete with images of your chosen articles, extracts from your articles and an overall introduction to the issue. Analyse carefully the language used in the articles to talk about women. You can be as innovative as you like, and if you prefer you can embed other media which you create which can communicate your findings simply and clearly.
