Project Summary: Early in the morning on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast of the United States. When the storm made landfall, it had a Category 3 rating on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale–it brought sustained winds of 100–140 miles per hour–and stretched some 400 miles across. The storm itself did a great deal of damage, but its aftermath was catastrophic. – Hurrican Katrina, https://www.history.com/topics/hurricane-katrina Once the hurricane turned up the Gulf, it passed directly over the facility devastating everything in its path. The two PMs drove the morning of the 29th, following the hurricane to the facility area to discover the extensive damage. The damage devastated a surrounding area extending outward for a seventy-five mile radius from the facility. The PMs called back to provide a status report once they cut their way into the facility through downed trees and brush. It was discovered that 764 personnel were missing.
