Project Summary: n an article Giving the Patient His Medical Record, Shenkin and Warner (1973) propose the following: "We propose that legislation be passed to require that complete and unexpurgated copies of all medical records, both inpatient and outpatient, be issued routinely and automatically to patients as soon as the services provided are recorded. The legislation should also require that physician and hospital qualifications and charges be recorded. Hospital records should be available regularly to patients on the ward, and copies sent to them upon termination of hospitalization". Discussion Board: List four positive consequences that you think would come from such a law (e.g. better communication between health care providers and patients). List four potential negative consequences (e.g. increased litigation).
