Project Summary: QUESTON (1) Eclipse During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon will turn a deep orange color due to the light from the Sun passing through Earth's atmosphere first. This is the same reason that the sky appears blue during the day and orange during Sun set and Sun rise. There are a couple of other types of solar eclipses. For example, we have the total eclipse, annular, partial, and even the famous "diamond ring" effect. What are the differences between these and what geometry is required for each? QUESTION (2) Telescope Do a web hunt for tips on buying your first telescope. What kind of telescope would you suggest and why? (Keep in mind such things as what you want to observe, price, portability, etc). What are some important properties of telescopes and how does each property impact observational results?
