Project Summary: Week 4 - Assignment: Compare and Contrast Union Representatives with those Outside the Organized EnvironmentTurnitin OriginalityCheck enabled Instructions You will be taking different perspectives as you respond to this assignment. First, you will need to evaluate the union versus non-union political activities, attitudes, and behaviors. Secondly you will assess the collective bargaining process and who might be the key players from the union and non-union sides. Keep in mind the perspective will have a great deal to do with how the union movement will affect you both personally and professionally. Prepare a paper in which you address the following: 1.Discuss the characteristics that you believe would be important in a union representative if you were a member of the union. Would the characteristics differ based on the position the representative holds (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer?) Would the characteristics differ based on whether the union was actively negotiating a contract? Compare and contrast the attitudes, behaviors and political aspirations of those involved in a union and those outside the union environment, in both representative and member roles. 2.Discuss whether you have the characteristics to be a union representative. Is that a position you would want to fulfill? Why or why not? If so, how would you effectively manage the process of bargaining to benefit members within your organization? Provide specific examples from the research to justify your positions. The paper will be open-ended to afford you the opportunity to interact with your course instructor. Support your paper with a minimum of five (5) external resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included. Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
