Project Summary: Week 1 - Assignment: Investigate and Identify a Problem This writing assignment has three narrative sections: SECTION 1: Conduct an investigation on a theoretical or work place problem and identify an area for intervention or research. Review the literature, policies, and programs for strengths and weaknesses. SECTION 2: Identify a problem requiring a solution. Write a general problem statement using data and a specific problem statement using data. Identify the issue or problem and the population effected. SECTION 3: Write background statement for why the identified problem is an important social concern or a theoretical interest. Combine the narrative sections into 5-7 pages excluding title/coversheet, abstract, and references. Support your paper with at least five (5) scholarly journal articles published within the past five years (textbooks, magazines, popular websites, etc. are not considered to be acceptable sources). Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
