Project Summary: One page each question.. NO PLAGARISM PLEASE ANSWER TWO QUESTIONS. BE SURE TO INDICATE WHICH QUESTIONS YOU ARE ANSWERING. 1. What is the role that multinational corporations play in world affairs, according to proponents of globalism? What is the role that MNCs play to globalization critics? Which view persuades you the most? Explain. Do contemporary international organizations involved in IPE enhance or hinder MNC activity, in your view? Explain. 2. What would you suggest is the current US assessment of the value of neoliberal economic system as an actor in world affairs? Explain, by illustrating either its effectiveness, or ineffectiveness for a contemporary issue in international economic affairs, from the US point of view. Would the system have been regarded as having been more effective or, ineffective, 30 years ago for that or a similar issue? Explain. 3. Discuss the priorities of the creators of the Bretton Woods Economic system. Were their objectives achieved? Explain. Would those creators be more pleased with the current economic system, whose management is dominated by the G-8, G-20, EU and IMF or, with Pax Americana? Explain. 4. Discuss the transitions that occurred in the politics of oil from Bretton Woods to Interdependence, culminating in, Globalization. Be sure to be analytical. During which period you suggest that the politics of oil were more favorable to overall health of international political economy? Explain. Is there likely to be a transition to a fourth phase in the near-term? Explain. 5. Discuss dtente. What effect did dtente have on the character of the international economic order? On balance, would you say that the advent of dtente was a net positive or, negative, in international economic relations? Was the end of dtente, similarly, a net positive or negative? Explain. Was the end of the cold war a net positive or negative? Explain. 6. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was founded in 1960 as a cartel. What is a cartel? In what manner did OPEC intend to conduct itself as a cartel? Analytically, account for OPECs rise in power. Provide an instance when cartel-behavior on the part of OPEC was compromised. Account the decline in OPECs influence. In your view, from the standpoint of global IPE, was the world better off with a powerful or, weak, OPEC? Explain. 7. Discuss the North-South dialogue. Identify major milestones on the path toward the building of the global South, leading up to the declaration of the NIEO. What was NIEO? What were the major developments that occurred systemically and subsystemically that enabled it to be declared without opposition? How would you describe the current state of North-South relations, again, considering levels-of-analysis.
