Project Summary: Write an essay (1000 words minimally, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, one inch margins) where you explain the values that contribute to your own personal ethical decision-making and where you think those values come from. Prior to writing the essay, you should think about different ethical decisions you've encountered and how you made the decision--what values prevailed in your decision-making. You should write an outline and sketch out the main points of your essay prior to beginning the writing process. Your essay should have a thesis statement and each paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that summarizes the main point of that paragraph. This essay will be graded on the extent to which the topic of the essay is addressed and the thoughtfulness/depth of the reflection, as well as general writing mechanics. Note that one of the goals of the course is to improve your writing skills. Every student should make at least one appointment at the writing center to bring in the draft and the assignment itself for feedback. More than one appointment is a good idea.
