Project Summary: news class Part I Most people in our class come from countries that have pretty strict control over the news. Even if you come from a country that is a democracy, you can still answer this. What are some of the first things you noticed about the news when you came to this country? How are the stories, headlines, and images different? Think of one example of how a story would be different in your country compared to the U.S. Use a real example. For example, lets say you are from Nigeria, and your country has some problems with one of its neighboring countries. A story written in a Nigerian paper will be different from the same story in a U.S. paper. Pick one example and explain with details. Discuss the headlines, images, facts and anything else. Part II Why do you think some governments control the media? Can you think of one example from your country where control of a specific story caused harm to the citizens? Or maybe a benefit? What do governments fear?
