Project Summary: Some guiding questions to consider (for inspiration only; you do not need to answer all of them): Riordan argues (in part) that the 1980 Moscow Olympics contributed to the collapse of communist rule in the Soviet Union by 1991. Why? How does Riordan characterize post-Soviet sport in Russia and the other Soviet successor states? Why is he so pessimistic? Do you think there are more positive ways to view it? How might we compare Riordan with any of our other readings or topics this semester?
