Project Summary: Summary Essay: Students will compose 2 pages , formal summary of the assigned reading selection. The summary will demonstrate the students mastery of reading comprehension and the elements of effective summarization. This is a content based summary in which the student will identify the original texts thesis and key supporting points. Both the original texts author(s) and title must be identified in the summary. Neutral, non-evaluative language and 3rd person perspective should be used. While this assignment is a summary, students will be penalized for overreliance on direct quotations and paraphrases. The summary will include a Works Cited page in which the assigned reading selection is cited. Assigned Reading: Gilman, Isaac.
